Our latest “moving pictures”creation. This one, called “a day at the beach” started out as just over 2000 still images  and was edited down to this very short film.

The Moving Picture

February 1st, 2012

We thought about calling it “stop motion” and in the end we call them “Moving Pictures” because we just don’t know what else to call it.  So what is it? It is thousands of still photographs turned into a short music video. I call this one Tricycle Love.  When we were making it, I decided I wanted to mount a camera to the handlebars of the tricycle for a shot. Well it turns out a Nikon D3 with a 14mm lens and a magic arm bracket weighs more than a tricycle. As soon as I clamped in on the thing toppled right over to the ground. Solution: Fill the small trunk of the tricycle with rocks.

The Very First Blog Post

January 31st, 2012

For my very first blog post I thought I would put up this photo of my daughter Eve. I chose this because this is the picture that inspired me to start 737 Studios.  Although I have been a photojournalist for over 15 years now and been lucky to document many historic events and people, there was something about this photo that made me stop. Her eyes, her expression, the absolute mess she had made of herself eating pasta. I don’t think I can pinpoint exactly what it is, but I felt like I could stare at this photo forever.  Marie prefers other photos of Eve to this one and I probably have made better pictures of her but this is the one for me. The one I will hold dear as she grows and the one I think I will be most grateful for in the years to come.
